Key project challenge: time schedule
The Sands Macao was a pioneering project – the first Las Vegas-style casino and hotel to be built and opened in Macau. It was built in two phases, the first of which incorporated approximately 230,000sqft of gaming spaces, restaurants, a spa, and a hotel with 54 VIP suites. Phase 2 saw the construction of a 240 all-suite hotel tower.
Sands Macao was a game changer for the gaming business in Macau and generated an outstanding return on investment.
The greatest challenge faced by the project management team was time; the client required the property to be completed in 14 months. This was achieved through the rapid mobilisation and effective management of a suitable workforce. tpm’s core team delivered the project in its former guise as the in-house client representative and project/development management arm of Las Vegas Sands in Asia.
