Four Season Macao

Size: 3.2m sqft
Cost: US$1.08b
Opened: August 2008
Key project challenges: labour; quality; design development

A relatively smaller property with a focus on details and design, the Four Seasons Macao required delivery of a product with the highest possible level of quality. This was to be done, however, in a market with limited skilled labour. The resolution of these conflicting factors was found in a personalised, focussed, and hands-on approach to design management.

Considerable attention was paid to design development and documentation of the Portuguese colonial-style architecture in order to establish and clarify high standards of detailing and material use. A design-management team was engaged throughout the construction phase to safeguard the established standards and ensure effective communication and execution.

The Four Seasons Macao contains a 360-room hotel with exceptional 5-star facilities including restaurants, a spa and health club, meeting spaces, and recreational spaces. In addition, the site offers the Plaza Casino, the Paiza Mansions (a 19-key ultra-luxury suite property), and a 200,000sqft high-end retail mall. tpm’s core team delivered the project in its former guise as the in-house client representative and project/development management arm of Las Vegas Sands in Asia.
